Mrs. Mary Bruce Harding, 91, mother of David Gerard of Crawfordsville, died Wednesday afternoon in Los Angeles, Calif. She had been in failing health for several months and critical for a week. Mrs. Harding was born Nov. 4, 1878, in Camp Washington, Ohio, the daughter of Edmund Reuben and Emma Broaddus Bryson. She spent her early life in Covington, Ky. She was first married to Dr. Royal H. Gerard of Crawfordsville on Oct. 12, 1904. Dr. Gerard, who preceded her in death in 1923, was a former president of the Ben Hur Life Association. In September 1938 she was married to Chase Harding, well-known local attorney. After Mr. Harding's death in 1957, she moved to Inglewood, Calif., to make her home with her youngest son, Edmund Clifford Gerard. He preceded her in death in January of this year. In recent years she had been living in the Inglewood Convalarium. A member of the First United Methodist Church, the Athenian Club and the Athens Chapter 97, Order of Eastern Star, Mrs. Harding was active in church and community affairs during her life in Crawfordsville, serving on the Community House Board and the Lew Wallace Study Board. Survivors in addition to her son in Crawfordsville are two sons, Bryson H. Gerard of Temple City, Calif., and Bruce Broaddus Gerard of San Francisco, Calif.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The time of a memorial service in Crawfordsville is pending. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

A memorial service for Mrs. Mary Bruce Harding, 91, former Crawfordsville resident who died Sept. 30 in Los Angeles, Calif., will be held Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Crawfordsville with Rev. Frank Little officiating. The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to Montgomery United Fund for You (MUFFY).
